*Preventing a Kitchen Fire
Did you know that Thanksgiving Day is the "Peak Day" for home cooking fires (according to the National Fire Prevention Association). Fires during Thanksgiving account for almost 3 times the amount of any other time within a year span.
Unattended cooking is the number one cause of these incidents. Nearly half of these fires are due to cooking equipment problems.
Using water to put a fire out may not be the best option. It is suggested that each home has a fire extinguisher and that each person in the home knows how to use it. Kitchen fires can cause a lot of damage, even if they are small, due to the spreading of soot and water from the fire extinguisher.
SERVPRO of Coeur d'Alene encourages each family to use safety habits to prevent a kitchen fire.
As a side note: Deep Frying your Turkey can be very dangerous. So, please use appropriate precautions and do not attempt this in your home and/or garage.
These holidays bring joy for so many and should be a day of relaxation, giving and fun! SERVPRO of Coeur d'Alene wishes you all a Happy Thanksgiving and Christmas time!!!
