Bursting Pipes in Commercial Businesses

 These following tips for Commercial Property Owners are a “Must Have” for any Business!

What do you do if a pipe bursts in your building? Here are some steps to take in an emergency.

#1 Turn the water off at the main water supply. If this is not a possibility, call your local plumber immediately.

#2 Shut down the power supply if water is seeping from the ceiling and/or walls, then call an electrician.

#3 Turn off any central heating system or immersion heater to prevent causing further damage.

#4 Protect all computer systems, documents and possessions. Move them to a safe location.

#5 Check the whole property (front to back, side to side) for water damage. Look for bulging ceilings and remember, your safety comes first! If possible, have another person check with you.

#6 Open any windows and doors for water-damaged rooms, to allow to dry which may help prevent mold and mildew.
