Is It Water Damage or A Flood in My Business?
Water Damage and Flood Damage can be compared to being the same but when it comes to insurance and repairs, they can be quite different.
- When caused by a plumbing issue, a flooded A/C unit, or an overflow on a washing machine, these would be categorized as a Water Loss.
- When Water originates from a natural disaster like a heavy rain pour or hurricane it can present other issues such as prolonged roof leaks and sump pump failure. This would be categorized a Flood Damage.

A bursting pipe or a plumbing situation is most likely what homeowners will experience when dealing with Water Damage. Water damage can also come from the following: A overflow of a Washing Machine, Refrigerator leak, An HVAC unit malfunction.

Flood damage is damage to the home as a direct result of a flooding occurrence or event. Plainly speaking, it must rain enough to create a flooding event or a flash flood. This may happen during a natural disaster that produces heavy rainfall in a short period of time.
