Winter Water Damage
SERVPRO of Coeur d’Alene offers tips this season to help keep your home clear of Ice Dam Damage after a winter storm!
These easy tips can help prevent these pesky Dams from forming over the cold and wet season.
#1 Add insulation in your attic.
#2 Remove attic heat sources.
#3 Insulate attic access doors.
#4 Check the exhausts.
#5 Check flashing around the chimney.
Ice Dams can damage your property. These damages occur when the following happens:
- Heat collects in the attic and warms the roof, except at the eaves.
- Snow melts in the warm roof and then freezes on the cold eaves.
- Ice accumulates along the eaves, forming a dam. Melting water from the warm roof backs up behind it, flows under the shingles, and into the house.
If your home or business is affected by an Ice Dam this winter, call SERVPRO of Coeur d’Alene directly at 208-457-1234! We are available 24/7, 365 days a year.
